Question Pc not working after upgrading cpu

Hey I recently upgraded my cpu from an i5-9400f to an i7-8700k on a B365m ds3h motherboard. When I turned it on after installing my new cpu it just kept turning off and on constantly. I’ve tried things like removing dust, making sure everything’s plugged in, making sure the temperatures good, nothings worked can anyone help me

Did you reset the CMOS? Some motherboards have a small jumper on the motherboard. You might need to short out two pins to reset the bios. You can also try removing the little watch battery on the motherboard which should also reset the motherboard.

Item 16 is the battery and item 17 are the clear CMOS pins.

Idk how I can check the bios version it won’t let me even in the bios but the psu is a thermaltake smart series 500w

I’ll try taking out the battery hold up.

Didn’t work it’s still turning off/on repeatively

a bios that supports the 9400F should handle the 8700K, check for bent pins on the motherboard - otherwise you have a defective CPU

Probably something is not connected properly
or you may have bent some pins in cpu socket during replacement process
