Im building a pc with these components:
Thermaltake Core v71 case
corsair rm1000x PSU
AMD 9590 CPU
msi 990fxa gaming motherboard
EVGA GeForce 980 gtx gpu
16 gb g.skill trident x RAM
corsair h100i gtx closed loop water cooler
samsung 850 evo SSD
ASUS optical drive

Im doing an out of the box build and when I jump start the motherboard, it only powers on for a few seconds, and now it won't at all. Im not sure if this is automatic and I have to fully install system or what. Thanks.

Sounds like a short to me, make sure you've used all the right motherboard standoffs and that there is no contacts being bridged as well

Is the CPU cooler attached? CPU fan attached the CPU_Fan header?

Sounds like the system is shutting itself down to prevent heat damage to the CPU.

Components seem fine, PSU is powerful enough & good enough quality.

I'm reading your post as you're breadboarding? Only motherboard, CPU, HSF, 1xRAM and PSU connectors? Would that be correct?
