Question PC only boots once after swapping out NVMe M.2 SSD

I'm trying to upgrade my boot drive from a 500 GB Samsung 970 Evo to a 2 TB WD Black. I used DiskGenius to clone my old SSD to my new one and swapped it out in the same slot of my motherboard. The first time I boot it up, everything works fine, however on subsequent boots I get a black screen with an error saying no valid boot drive detected. I've tried going into my bios settings and set the new drive as the highest boot priority, but I still get the error. The weird things is, swapping back to my old SSD will also boot only once, and then subsequent boots will fail unless I take out the SSD and slot it back in. For now, I've managed to get it working by cloning my boot drive to an external SSD and booting from that instead, and it seems to be able to read data from the NVMe SSD just fine, but refuses to boot from it. Hoping someone could shed some light on why this might be happening.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte z370 Aorus Gaming 7
