PC output to 5.1

So, I have my PC connected to my TV through HDMI. The TV is connected to the 5.1 system also through HDMI. The problem is, the PC doesn't recongnize the 5.1 system bc it's not connected directly to it. It passes through the TV, therefore, I don't have the 5.1 option when selecting sound output from my PC. Any solution on how to force it to be 5.1 through some type of program, or setting? Thank you!

Maybe a HDMI splitter (connecting the pc to both 5.1 system and tv), but I can't recommend one, as never tested. It's just an idea.

Tha ks for the input. Unfortunately, I don't want any extra cables. I'm just looking for some software that can do what I want.
