The main thing is every time i play a game my pc restarts! All im asking really is would my cpu be over heating causing the restart or could my grafix card be over heating causing the restart!

It happen from WoW at time to crysis, lotro basically any game i play it will restart!

PC spec

G31 MB
500gb seagate HDD
4Gb ddr 2 800 ram 5-5-5-15 timing

ATI radeon 4870x2

Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

you could use real temp and put the core temps in the tray and lock the taskbar on top and begin to play and observe the temps.... I doubt that the temps are getting so hot that it is shutting down unless the heatsink is not properly mounted or you have 0 airflow in the case.....

an easy way to tell is to take the side off the PC and aim a housefan at it and see if it still overheats, if it doesn't then you know its a heat issue. Also make sure that all fans in the case blow in at the front and out at the back, make sure your CPU heatsink is properly seated and has thermal paste between it and the CPU, you can also download speedfan which will tell you the temps from pretty much any temperature sensors in your system. I hope this stuff helps. Good luck!

Ok sorry i haven't posted a reply i have been away on business.

Anyway i have tried both and my pc still restarts, my cpu idles at 40-50 degrees, but my room temp is anything from 23-28 degrees Celsius!

With the side cover off and normal house fan blowing in the temp goes down to around 38+- but still when i play a game it restarts, i installed sims 3 thinking it would be a easy test and as it comes to the loading screen it restarts.

Also i ran memtest86+ and as it starts and does i think the 1st test my pc restarts...

Would that mean one or both my memory sticks are faulty?

could anyone tell me how and what to look for with memtest86+ to tell if my memory is broken?

Thank you again
