One day my PC is running fine next day I come home and experience severe FPS drops on my games not only my games the PC itself feels slow even when opening new tabs in an Explorer.
I have tried SFC /scannow, I tried msconfig, defrag... Not sure what else to do.

Solution
Repaste again in case you got it wrong or remounted the cooler improperly.

You can often tell if you didn't quite get the paste right because temps on some of the cores are a lot higher than other cores, which is a sign that the coverage isn't very even.

If that doesn't help, new CPU cooler possibly. They're not expensive.

But to be honest, if:
  • the cooler is dust free
  • the cooler has fresh paste applied with decent coverage
  • the CPU cooler fan is working properly
  • the cooler is mounted correctly
There's no reason why temps shouldn't improve.

As for the repaste, while it might sound intimidating, it's not a particularly big deal. It's just cleaning some stuff off the CPU and the CPU cooler, both of which are flat...

There's your problem then :)

What is the full system spec?

Is your CPU fan spinning?

When was the last time you cleaned the system of dust inside? (if you never have or don't know how, make sure to read a guide first for safety tips re: static etc)

Have you ever repasted the CPU/cooler?

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

Not sure if my CPU fan is spinning

I cleaned out the dust yesterday and it was working good for like 1 hour then it went back to the FPS drops
I have never repasted the CPU/cooler

Well Make sure The cpu cooler fan is spinning and that the cooler is mounted well on to the motherboard.
And that if you unmount it to check or if you see it is not mounted, remember to clean off the thermal paste and apply fresh thermal paste.

Unmounting the cooler messes up the thermal paste and means you need to reapply it - which is a normal periodic maintenance operation on a PC :)

MX4 is widely available and not too expensive thermal paste.
And for cleaning the CPU and the heatsink of the existing paste, there are things like:

If you don't fancy working out which kind of alcohol you need to buy - if you're only an occasional user it's not too bad value.

You can clean the dust from fans and heatsinks with compressed air.
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/how-to-clean-your-computer-case/
Clear the dust from the fan blades, and from between the individual fins on the heatsink, as well as dust filters in the case.

The thermal paste only relates to the CPU heatsink being removed.

However, if you cleaned the dust recently, which I think you said you did, then it is likely you will want to remove and reseat the CPU cooler, with a repaste.

I cleaned the dust but i still see particles of dust deep within the fan that is very hard to reach with the compressed air that i have since it doesn't have the straw attached to the can

thanks for the help btw

Get a can with a straw / optional straw :)

I use: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fellowes-CRC99749-Performance-Invertible-Duster/dp/B004PZBQ6I
Though it's much cheaper from a local hardware store than off Amazon

To be honest, if you cleaned the dust to some degree already, even if it's not spotless, it is highly likely that what you need to do is a repaste and remounting of the cooler.
Ok I will try the compressed air with a straw if that doesn't work I guess i will have to repaste the cooler, thank you guys !
