Okay my old PC had a AMD R9 380, i5 6402p, and 8GBs of Ram and now i have a AMD fx 8350, RX 480, 16GBs of Ram but the performance on my old one is way better than the new one and i cant seem to find the issue. I've tried factory resetting but it says there was a problem occurred during reset.

Why would you replace a 6th Gen i5 with an AMD FX CPU? The reason for the lack of performance is in gaming loads your old processor was far better than what you replaced it with.

You do have a better GPU, but it can't replace the loss in processing power.

For starters, the 8350 is a step down from the 6400. While the 8350 does have 8 threads to the 6400's 4 threads, the 6400 IPC is much better than the 8350. With that being said, there still may be something amiss as the 480 is a nice jump from the 380 and in games that are not CPU heavy, you should not see performance drop.

What are your CPU temps underload? Go to userbenchmark.com and run a bench. Leave a link here with the results.

Try doing a clean install of the GPU drivers. Use this DDU tool to uninstall the 380 drivers and then download the latest drivers from AMD.

I didn't replace it, the old pc was shared between me and my brother so i just bought this one with intentions to upgrade it but I expected better performance than this until I upgrade. My old pc ran fortnite at about 180 fps give or take some ups and downs on medium to low settings but this one only gets about 90 with everything on low but sometimes it jumps higher and falls again and its very frustrating. 90 is good but I expected it to be better

Yeah it definitely won't be. What inclined you to buy an AMD FX processor? The platform was ancient a couple years ago, and dead as of March last year.

Any way you can return this stuff? You should have bought an AMD Ryzen 3 1300 instead, or another Intel i5 6400 or 7400.

Right now the best deal in gaming is the AMD Ryzen 5 2600, any B350 or X470 motherboard is great for it (like the MSI B350 Tomahawk is a good deal), and at least 8GB of DDR4-3000 Ram.

There is 1 processor in that FX series that was technically "better", the FX-9590, it does not work in your motherboard, and its actually literally the worst processor ever made. So no there is nothing better available for that board. Your best bet is to remove the board, cpu and ram, and replace all at once. Sell the old ones on ebay theres always folks looking to buy used stuff like that.

so the b350, ryzen 3 1300x and 8 gb ddr4 would work?

Yes they would but the new Ryzen 2xxx series came out recently, so if you can you are better off getting the Ryzen 3 2200G or Ryzen 5 2600 processor, of course depends on your budget (they shouldn't be much more), and the 1300X is still a great processor too. Also your 8GB DDR4 needs to be a 2x4gb set and DDR4 2800 minimum, but 3000 preferably.

If the bios update part scares you, and B450 boards are still not out, when you are ready to buy, then this route with the 2200g.

Or just get a 1xxx series ryzen with the B350 board above. X470 supports higher ram speeds, just as an extra FYI.
