Last night there was a storm and a lighting stroke near my office and my PC wouldn't boot properly. When I push the power button it beeps out a error code which I looked up in user manuel and it means fan failure but they spin and this error code only appeared after the storm, I looked into the PC and noticed the capacitors are yellow/brownish on top but the PC powers on and dosen't go any further than'Dell' and half way the bar, I can go into BIOS but there is nothing there, as if someone erased BIOS, there's just a white screen, there would normally be settings, I though it was something with hardrive as it wouldn't boot into windows and I can't even select boot options to boot from my USB stick as there is nothing there. Would this be the capacitors fault? If it is, can they be replaced or do I need to get a brand new motherboard? Thanks.

With the way you've narrated the issue, it seems like the lightning strike burnt the motherboard's BIOS to a crisp. I'm curious though is there no implementation for a surge protector in your office to prevent the lighting from making it's way through to your components?

Is there a possibility for a picture to show us what the capacitors look like? If the board does end up being the dead one, you're in for a hefty (re)investment if it's your office since the rest of your components will be compromised.

My office has 2 surge protectors, incase one fails, but the thunder storm was a massive one, that was able to bypass both surge protectors, (after technicians came around for investigation, it turned out the roof wasent earthed and the lighting striked right on top of the roof (due to a black mark) and it blew all 2 surge protectors. The only thing that protected from all pc blowing was fuses incase the plugs (because Im from UK), only two Pc didnt survive (mine, and my co-worker's) because we had this doggy Chinese UK mains plug that didnt have a fuse and it went straight into the PC, I managed the download the latest logs from the PC, and the funny thing is, it said it was turned on and off within 2 seconds and the time was about the time that the lighting stroke.

I cant get any picture because Im currently on holiday away, which is the reason due to late reply, and both PCs ware repaired because they were still covered by warranty for 2 weeks at the time this happend.
