I've read a number of posts about similar issues, but in my case there's an added (and weird) twist.

The issue is that my PC will randomly not start when I push the power button. No fans turn on, lights, nothing whatsoever.

I decided to test if there was any power going through the system by plugin my phone to a USB port and seeing if it would charge. Surprisingly, the PC turned on as soon as I plugged the phone in. I tested this a number of times and it happens every time. It's like the phone is "jump starting" the PC. Very weird, never seen anything like that.

Do you guys have any idea what the issue might be?

My motherboard is a Asus P8Z77-V LK.

Thanks!

That's pretty crazy....but it's a good thing for you to know.

One of the more likely cases....is that it's just the button/switch.

You can jump the switch to power it up....and if that works every time....it's the switch....or you can just replace the switch and see.
