[SOLVED] PC power up problem - half solved

I'm having some problems with powering up my PC. I've not tested much yet, but I've done some troubleshooting which has helped.

So ever certain number of power-ups my PC doesn't turn on at all.

I've managed to get around the problem by taking the kettle lead out for 5 mins or so until any charge left dissipates - I know this as the ethernet light stops flashing on the back.

I then plug the kettle lead back in and it works fine.

Note: I have an external Golden Field power on switch. I don't feel it's a problem with this but I thought it's important to mention.

ANY IDEAS what the issue could be??

I've switched back to the standard case power switch and the problem is still there.

My PC switches on fine if it has been left for a while, but if I switch it off, then it has the issue.

I can press the power button and the case fan moves a couple of mm, but then nothing.
The ethernet light is flashing so some power seems to be flowing.

For good system specs do this,

download hwinfo,
install and open it=click run,
close the top window which is the system summary,
in the main window at the left top click "save report",
at the bottom of the next window check "Summary for Clipboard",
after that you'll see what's in the pc,
copy by clicking "copy to clipboard" and rightclick+paste in your next respons

What is th new psu? Just curious. Hope it will solve your problems.

See you don't have the latest bios, something that might help and that your ram isn't working at rated speeds, but maybe that is for problem solving?

You tested without that "external Golden Field power on switch"?

Just installed it. Corsair RM 550X. I think it's fixed
(And yeah, I'd tried it without the GF power on switch).

Thanks for pointing out the BIOS/RAM thing. I'll open a new thread for those if I get stuck.

Can look for the "how to update the bios" read the manual (or look for a vid online) and for making the ram run at rated speeds enabel XMP (profile 1).

Update. The PSU replacement worked and it must have been on the way out.

Memory and BIOS updated:
