Hey guys, just today my PC will not beep when powered on and the display says no signal. I’ve had the PC for years and it has worked up until this point.

I was playing a game and my microphone, which is pretty heavy (Snowball Mic) fell off my desk and on the top of the computer with decent impact. As soon as this happened, the display went off. Unplugging and plugging the monitor back in did not work, and yes, the monitor does have power. Everything in the pc seems to be working (fans, lights, etc.).

Could the mic falling on the pc cause some damage? What could it possibly be?

Solution
did your system normally beep and now there is no beep?
the beep is the system saying the CPU, GPU, memory, and keyboard are connected. this process is called POST (Power On Self Test). a single POST beep is the all clear and the system will now boot.
if you are no longer getting the single all clear beep first remove and reinsert the RAM in the slots after proper grounding.
check for normal boot. if still nothing, turn off the system unplug the power cord and remove the motherboard battery for 5 minutes. this will drain the CMOS and reset the BIOS to defaults. replace the battery and plug in the power and attempt normal boot.

Canned Grounding Rant-
shut down system and remove side panel. with the power cable plugged into the PSU...

Canned Grounding Rant-
shut down system and remove side panel. with the power cable plugged into the PSU touch a bare unpainted metal area of the case. (my favorite spot is an unpainted screw securing the PSU) once you have grounded yourself you can unplug the computers power cable from the PSU and can touch the system.
if you move your feet, or shuffle in your chair, plug in the cord, reground yourself and unplug again.
end canned rant-
