Question PC powers on then immediately off...

Hi

Apologies in advance for a long post but I'll try to be as brief as possible. In short my relatively new self-build PC won't even post before turning itself off.

I built a new PC with a Ryzen 3300x, 16GB Corsair DDR4 ram and MSI X570 gaming plus motherboard in the middle of last year. All seemed OK at first until a couple of random reboots while the PC was in use (not overheating) without a blue screen error. I think a BIOS reset "cured" the problem. Then one day the PC started rebooting after about a minute of use (just after logging in to windows) which got progressively worse to rebooting during the boot up after POST, and then not even posting. I took it to a repair shop and it came back working as normal (no parts replaced, just "cleaning up" the system).

The Computer doesn't get used very often now and for the first time in a couple of months I switched it on the other day. Logged in to Windows and it started rebooting again to the point where it wouldn't even POST with the motherboard LED sticking on CPU.

When I built the system I used the same PSU that was in my previous build (550W Coolermaster) and I thought that maybe this was starting to give up the ghost.

I purchased a new Corsair 650W Gold PSU and fitted it earlier today, and the PC started working (got to the windows login). Then when I put the whole thing back together, the PC now turns on, and almost immediately turns off.

To try and track down the fault, I've systematically removed everything (GPU, memory, SSD) but the issue persists. I've also removed the motherboard from the case and have set it up on a non-conductive surface on the off-chance that something was shorting out.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to go next; whether the CPU is at fault (although someone told me that it's never the CPU, except for when it's the CPU) or the motherboard. Unfortunately I don't have any spares to check.

It's definitely not the PSU as I've got my old motherboard/processor and it powers this up.

If you've got this far, thanks for reading and I'd be grateful for any advice :)

Thanks :)

Unfortunately, no difference. I tried both sticks on their own in each of the four memory slots.

One thing i forgot to say is that after each on/off cycle I have to physically power cycle the PSU in order to get the PC to power on again.

It won't POST before switching off. I've tried resetting the BIOS and changing the battery.

No over clocking but XMP was turned on. Resetting the BIOS should set that back to off.
