PC powers on then instantly powers off with brand new SSD installed

Hi

I have just bought a brand new Samsung 850 EVO 250gb SSD. I am trying to install windows 10 onto my new rig.

However i have a big problem. When i install the SSD and connect a sata and power cable the PC powers on then within 0.5 seconds it shuts down and will not turn back on.

As soon as i remove the SSD the PC boots and i can access the BIOS.

The motherboard i am using is a Asus 170-A

Please help me, I do not know what to do here. I built this PC 2 weeks ago and i am still without a computer. I would GREATLY appreciate help.

If the PC power on when you are installing and plugging in the drive something is shorting so you will have to check your motherboard install like standoffs and such.

Hi thanks for the reply. I made sure to switch off and unplug the power when installing or removing the SSD.
The pc powers on and off perfectly fine when the SSD is not installed. So this cant be a short can it? It seems to me that the SSD is causing the issue?

So it does not turn on itself? just shuts down with the drive after power on, then sounds like faulty drive.

When I turn on the computer with the ssd installed, the pc turns on for less than a second then it shuts down. Once it is shutdown it wont turn back on.

But as soon as I unplug the ssd, I am able to turn the pc on and boot up. I am also able to power the pc down as normal.

Yep faulty drive. Presuming you have tried different power connector.
