PC powers up, no display, no beeps, cycles on and off

Just fired up my new build for the first time and ran into what seems to be a common problem. Fans spin up, motherboard led lights on, cpu fan spins up, no beeps and no post or bios. Tried removing the battery and shorting the cmos with a screwdriver, as well as booting with a single stick of ram. checked all power cables and everything seems to be plugged in correctly and pc remains on with all fans and lights on, just no display. I am connected to HDMI and into the back of a tv, only because the monitor is still in the mail. Could this be a bad mobo? Thanks.

Got the screen to say reboot and select proper boot device. guessing I fixed my own problem somehow
