I have an alienware aurora r5.. GPU is a GTX 1060 6gb, CPU is an i5 6400, came with 2x4gb ram, 460w psu.. As of today, I got 2x8gb ram to replace my old sticks.. I booted it up, slow at first, but loaded my game. I played a while, then all of a sudden it froze, the sound froze as well, and I couldn't do anything, except my PC restarted itself. Got back into game, and it did it again. Booted it up again, and it did it again. Desktop works, but loading into games or even exiting them causes these restarts.. I've been searching all over for a fix - one suggests manually updating speeds, power etc in bios for ram, except this god damn dell mobo won't let me access any of the settings... they're all greyed out. So I tried setting the cmos jumper to clear... but then my pc wouldn't boot at all.
Researched a fix, but got a vague response about removing every component except cpu and ram.. So does that mean GPU, fan? and if I removed gpu, how am I gonna see what I'm doing on the monitor? New to PC, not well acclimated, sorry.
also noteworthy, after looking in my case, all my hardware was exceptionally hot. I checked MSI afterburner and the fan was randomly set to 0... Don't know why, when, or how that got changed but glad I fixed it.
Thanks in advance
