Hello, I tried doing stuff on my own I can't seem to figure out what the problem is and how I can fix it. Pc parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RHZbQZ

Lately my PC keeps freezing, crashing, bsod etc. It's totally random there's no pattern to it. One day it happens while gaming, the other day it happens while browsing and then the other day it happens when watching a video.

After a crash occurs I'm only allowed to use 8gb of ram instead of 16gb. My bios goes single channel mode instead of dual. After a couple restarts everything goes back to normal. This doesn't always happen though, it's more like a 50/50 chance.

I've tried the following;

Memtest (usb) 4hours; 4 passes 0 error
Prime95 1 hour 0 error
FurMark 1 hour 0 error
Latest bios update
Latest GPU driver (using DDU)
Latest windows update

I'm having trouble getting the dumpfiles but after a bios update I finally got one.

WhoCrashed says

This was probably caused by the following module: mouhid.sys (0xFFFFF809995630FE)
Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I also remember getting an error saying "system thread exception not handled"

don't bump, I have sent link to someone to get them to convert it into a file I can read, he might just be asleep right now.

the file who crashed blamed is the HID mouse driver for windows. what mouse are you using?

Who crashed great at showing what crashed but not why. Dump files should give us more of a clue.

Ah, thank you. I thought the post got ignored.

I'm using a corsair harpoon.

Hi, I ran the dump file through the debugger and got the following information: https://pste.eu/p/9Gpi.html

File: 012419-8078-01.dmp (Jan 24 2019 - 16:07:36)
BugCheck: [DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (D1)]
Probably caused by: memory_corruption (Process: System)
Uptime: 0 Day(s), 0 Hour(s), 27 Min(s), and 18 Sec(s)

Motherboard: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty%20AB350%20Gaming-ITXac/index.asp
It appears you have the latest BIOS already installed.

I can't help you with this. Someone else will post with more information soon. Please wait for more answers. Good luck.

the drivers you using for PS3/PS4 controller - Scarlet Crush can cause BSOD

Do you have newest Corsair drivers? they show as being from 2017.

try installing or running the Asrock App shop, its on downloads page for motherboard. It will check you have latest motherboard drivers.

Apart from Scarlet Crush, nothing stands out as being especially old.
Speedfan really needs a newer driver but as it works, why fix it. Though it lacks support for newer motherboards.

Hi, I'm using an xbox one controller, never used a ps3/ps4 one. No I don't have the newest driver for corsair, I'll look into updating it. I barely use Speedfan, I'll uninstall it to see if it'll crash again.

Hello,

After uninstalling speedfan and updating my corsair mouse driver I thought I fixed the problem because I had no more crashes or bluescreens. Until today, just browsing the web suddenly my mouse froze, I thought my mouse stopped working but sadly my whole PC froze. Sadly no crashdumps because I had to manually restart the PC.

I have no idea what to do.

try running this and stop scarlet crush from running at startup - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns
I don't know why its installed, can't find any reference of it working with an xbox one controller. It could be cause as its a USB device driver

try searching for Reliability history in cortana, choose the control panel option.
see if any red X. should be at least one saying windows was incorrectly shutdown, when you restarted. Have a look if any others mention potential problems that might link into this one.

I've done the ones you mentioned. It's been a while, I haven't had any problems until now. My PC is only crashing during gaming now, even at the BSOD screen it's stuck on 0% , with the error: system service exception. After force-restarting, my pc only seems to use 8gb out of 16gb ram. If I restart it again it'll get back to 16gb.

I noticed there were some weird buzzing noise while it was stuck at the bsod screen. Could it be the PSU? Or SSD? I still have warranty on all my parts, except ram.

Sorry for double posting, but I'm desperate now.

Ok, so I formatted my PC. Cleaned up my PC, installed GPU driver. Started up Rocket league, played about 10-15minutes without any issue. I went afk to get my coffee while the game was in main menu. When I came back I saw the usual bluescreen but this time I got the following message:

Stop code: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
What failed: atikmdag.sys

It did restart on its own though.. Is it possible that my GPU is dying?

Did you fix it? I have the exact same problem and it's definitely not my GPU, as it's new and I swapped it out to test, but the problem didn't disappear. It's very likely the RAM, as the system cuts a stick when booting...

Yes, sort of but in another thread as this was started before forums changed software and the notifications of posts in here were not continued on new software, so he started a new thread - https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...ing-random-bsod-win-10.3461959/#post-21113837

I would make a thread on your own and someone here will answer it for you :)
