Hello folks, today I had an issue where my computer completly froze whilst I was surfing the web/watching videos on youtube/twitch, this happened for around two seconds with a loud static noise (like a continous droning) and some sort of screen tearing with the display showing black lines across a white background. I had to do a full system reboot as it was completly unresponsive.

I tried restarting and made it to the log on screen but the display was all pixelated and after a couple of seconds the monitor went black as if there were no input. Tried this 4 times but can't make it past the log in screen to try and diagnose the problem.

I'm not to sure how to go about fixing this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Heres a pic of the screen tearing http://imgur.com/0FCYW3v

Solution
It's not RAM's fault but video card memory on the card itself, nothing to swap there. What happens a lot is that there was a cold solder joint on the cards which looses the contact after a while or after overheating. Reballing is the only cure.
Try one thing, take card out end re-seat it again. If it has separate power input, check the contacts. If nothing helps, it's toast.
Well I have 8GB of RAM. Do you reckon if I switched them out and slotted them in the other modules it would make a difference? I have run memtest before and no errors came up (this was quite recently)
