PC Randomly Mutes Itself!

Hello!
Sometimes while listening to music in Windows Media Player (in Windows 10 64 bit) my music stops with an error that says "An audio device was disconnected or reconfigured", however sometimes my entire pc mutes itself along with the music, sometimes my game is getting muted too for some unknown reason.
Also while watching videos on Youtube my pc mutes itself and sometimes it ends up in an error which makes me reload the page all the time.
It just shows the volume of the pc sometimes going down to 0 and then back up sometimes, and sometimes the volume bar stays the same even tho I can't hear anything.

I've already tried to disable and enable the sound driver, check for driver's updates, set the speaker as default in the sound options, changing headset port, restarting my computer, resetting Windows Media Player's settings to default, using sound troubleshooter (it just says that there's nothing plugged in so it can't fix anything).

Nothing seems to be working, could you guys help me out? Thanks 😀

it's either your sound device, dunno if you use motherboard sound, or something is corrupted in your windows instalattion. I would start with reinstalling the windows...

Whats your audio device? Please list your PC specs.

It could be corrupted drivers or it could be hardware.

If You're using motherboard Realtek (Most common sound chip so im assuming), you can update your drivers directly from them at http://www.realtek.com.tw/ Go to downloads/High Definition Audio Codecs (Software) and download appropriate driver Win10 64Bit

Before reinstalling your sound drivers look here: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2763685/stop-windows-automatically-updating-device-drivers.html

If you uninstall a driver and haven't told Wind10 not to update device drivers it will keep reinstalling the old driver every time after a reboot.

Does your PC state that your volume is getting muted, or are you saying that the volume drops out. Because how you described it sounds like your speaker or headset isn't being plugged in all the way (you mentioned getting disconnects). Sometimes those cables need more force to insert than you think they need.

Are you using your motherboard for audio? If so what is your motherboard?

So the thing is that sometimes it shows an X next to the volume icon which indicates that my headset has been disconnected however sometimes my volume icon shows it's fine and my volume bar is okay and everything and still my audio seems to drop out in some games and videos.
For example once i'm playing a game while playing music using Windows Media Player (which I've been doing for the past few months with no problems at all), sometimes my pc mutes the game and the song from the Windows Media Player and after switching a song on Windows Media Player the audio of the other song is fine even tho i'm getting an error from windows media player as I mentioned before but my game is still muted.
It's really weird because sometimes when my game is getting muted and after my music is fixed up by switching a song I need to either restart the game, and like I said, the volume icon has an X only for a second sometimes and then it's fine again and i'm still having no sound... it's pretty complicated

Are you using your motherboard for audio? If so what is your motherboard?

Yeah, but I can't really tell what the motherboard name since it just says on dxdiag "system manufacturer".
However I think I know why i'm having this problem, i found a small part of the USB cable kinda messed up and opened so I guess I need some new headphones, thanks anyways
