Hi
I have a very strange PC problem . I will explain it in time line :
whilst gaming( specifically Grim Dawn) PC randomly restarted itself and then tried to log into windows but it wouldnt get past the windows logo screen ( when its black back ground and the windows blue logo) and the spinning dots stopped spinning . I then disconnected everything from the USB's ( I have a USB soundcard, MIDI controller and USB e-lincesor) and booted the pc up . I get to the diagnostic screen and it tells me everything is ok and no errors were and then restarts . After restart same thing happened , frooze are spinning dots . I took my PC in for repair , thinking it was a hardrive failure and they checked everything and everything seemed ok , they booted the PC normally and checked the hardrive and everything was working . I got the pc backed and connected everything back with the exception of the MIDI controller , this worked BUT I did not game Grim Dawn , instead I gamed something less intensive ,Shadow of Mordor . After a week of everything being ok I decided to try grim dawn again and it was working fine for about 30 mins of gaming . Next day I boot up my PC and this time during surfing Youtube pc randomly restarts and freezes again at dots . I take my pc back for repair , this time they tell me they cannot access the OS and have to format and reinstall windows. They do this and I get my pc back . this time im thinking its my usb soundcard the problem , but I connect it to my crappy laptop and it works 100% and didnt cause any problems . I install and connect the soundcard correctly and I also connect the power cable directly into the wall socket . I start gaming Grim Dawn again , this time I played for 2 hours and PC was perfect . next day I game for 10 mins and then I get the random restart again and frozen at spinning dots . I take it back to for repair and again the PC boots up correctly and I can access windows and do everything .
We are all confused and we dont know what to do . We searched for the windows crash log and found the msg of where it said something like ' sudden loss of power' along with two other sources .
So we decided to replacethe power supply , which was a 850 watt PSU to a SAMA 1200 watt PSU
I havent checked the PC entirely yet , although it does boot up fine and seems ok but have not gamed yet to see if I will have the same problem
My question is , what does this problem sound like ? is it the PSU ? What else could it be ?
What happens if I have the same problem again .
Here are some PC specs off the top of my head :
EVGA Nvidia gtx 970
Sama 1200 watt PSU
EVGA motherboard
i7 3.4ghz
32 mbp RAM
225gig SSD harddrive
500gig hardrive , standard
NI Komplete Audio 6 sound card
MAYA 49 Midi controller
I would also like to add , that the graphics card and extra 16 mbp of ram and the SSD harddrive were installed as an upgrade 2 years and the remaining components are about 4 years old .
