So a few minutes ago, my PC shut down, and my UPS started clicking like a damn Geiger counter. My PC was the only thing that shut down that was connected to the UPS. I listened as it shut down to see if the clicking was a bad HDD, but it was definitely the UPS. I'm worried if this affected my hardware or my UPS at all, and if it affected the UPS do I need to get a new one? Thanks.

Solution
Does you UPS have a self test button? Plug your PC into a regular wall outlet temporarily and try the self test button. If your UPS is more than 3 years old, you could need to replace the battery.
Are you sure the clicking noise is not from the HDD. The clicking sound could be your power supply. The clicking noise could be due to either a fan, hard disk, floppy or CD drive (when in use). But f it's the hard disk your data needs to be backed up.
