Hello guys,

I would like to start out with saying that English is not my first language, so I would like to apologize if the text below is filled with spelling mistakes.

I'm struggeling a bit with my computer, for some reason it has suddenly started shutting down when I open up games (Diablo 3, WoW, etc.). My computer is in no way new, but I have not experienced this problem with it before.

My specs are:
Intel Core i7 920 CPU 2.67 GHz
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
Energon EPS-750Watt
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
12 GB Ram

I have been running a Core Temp for a bit now while idling/browsing the web, and the stats are the following:
----------- Min. ----- Max.
Core #0: 45*C ---- 73*C
Core #1: 47*C ---- 72*C
Core #2: 46*C ---- 71*C
Core #3: 45*C ---- 70*C

I also had Core Temp running while I was entering Diablo 3 last time, the temperature was around 50-55*C on the CPU cores, this is while its loading the menu, and before its done logging into my account the computer has already shut off - without a warning.

My computer can be idling for days on end without shutting down on its own, but if I enter a game, it will shut down more or less instantly.

I hope you might be able to help me 🙂
If I missed anything important please let me know, and I will get back to you asap.

- Mark

I have now downloaded SpeedFan, please let me know if you want any info from it.

I have 12 GB ram, if you need to know anything about them, then I can check what they are.

Hi Bossyfins,

Not that I can see, you mean if any cylinders should be broken/popped so the fluid is "melted" out right ?

GPU temp in SpeedFan says 60-61*C

In TechPowerUp GPU-Z it also says 60-61*C

but here I can see a few more options
GPU Temp. #1: 60,5*C
GPU Temp. #2: 64,0*C
GPU Temp. #3: 64,5*C
Fan Speed: 26%
GPU Memory Clock 1000.0 MHz

I'm not really sure what the temp. is under load, as the shut down occurs even before there's any actual graphic performance.
I just tried loading up Diablo 3 (This is the game I'm playing at the moment, so I know that the shut down will happen when it opens) and even before any intro or actual gameplay the computer shuts down, it was verifying my login and then *blam* computer goes off. I had my eye on the "TechPowerUp GPU-Z" on the GPU Temp. and it did not move above 60,0*C. I am sure that it would be higher if I actually got into the game ofcourse.

I just checked my Windows logs, as I have only made the computer shut down once today, and it shows 1 critical error and 2 minor errors, I'm not sure if this means anything to anyone, but I will post it anyways.
If you want more info on them, please let me know and I will post it here.
Critical:
Error-ID 41 - Source: Kernel-Power
Minor:
Error-ID 3 - Source: Kernel-EventTracing
Error-ID 6008 - Source: EventLog

Hello Bossyfins,

I'm not familiar with Prime95, I have downloaded it and let my computer do the "Blend (tests som of everything, lots of RAM tested)" for about 2 hours now.

My CPU cores are now showing temp. like:
Core #0: 100*C
Core #1: 98*C
Core #2: 97*C
Core #3: 94*C

No shutdown or anything, am I running the right test, or would you like for me to try one of the others?

I'm not really sure if it's just the standard Intel fan that came with the CPU, but I took a picture of it. I bought the computer assembled and I'm not the biggest computer wiz 🙂

Edit: I would not say that it's too dusty/dirty, I cleaned it the other day, as I thought that might have been the problem.
