[SOLVED] PC Randomly shuts off after hardware upgrade

Hi,
I recently bought a new motherboard, RAM and CPU.
After installing these, my system randomly shuts off (as if the power cord was removed) and boots up on its own again.
This happens at random times, I can be playing games for hours or a whole day without any problem, and some times it happens twice in an hour.
It also shut down in idle state once, but my pc is rarely on in idle for very long.

What could this be? I have not overclocked anything, and using HW info, the temperatures seem to be fine (see image below)
Someone has suggested it could be the PSU, but as i have not had this problem ever before i upgraded, it seems unlikely to me that it would be the cause.

Edit: There is an orange LED always on at all times on the motherboard, tried figuring out what it indicates, but no luck.
I have also reset windows 10 today and updated the bios.

Specs:
MOBO: ASUS TUF B360-PRO GAMING
MOBO Replaced with Asus rog strix h370-f gaming
CPU: INTEL CORE I7-8700 3.20GHZ BOXED CPU with: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
RAM: 2x CRUCIAL BALLISTIX 16 GB 8 GB X 2 DDR4 2400 MHZ DIMM
RAM Replaced with: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4 2666MHz 16GB
(this is on the QVL list for the motherboard) CMR16GX4M2A2666C16
GPU: ASUS DUAL GEFORCE GTX 1070 OC 8GB
PSU: Fractal Design Newton R2 1000W PSU
Boot Drive: Intel® SSD 330 Series 180GB 2.5", 25nm

If any more info is needed, please let me know

Your motherboard is tolerant of ram placement, but for dual channel operation, you want one stick in channel A and one in B. The user manual does not seem to require ram to go in any particular slots.
That is a bit unusual.
If you have a problem with a1 +B1 or A2 +B2, then you have a problem.
Either your ram is faulty or the motherboard has a bad ram slot.
Run memtest86 with the one known good stick.
See if it will run in any of the other slots.
If a good stick will not run
ditto for ram stick #2.
Ram will have a lifetime warranty, if yours is bad, return the ram as defective.
Then, there is a possibility that the motherboard is defective.

Did you reinstall your OS and installed all the necessary drivers for your system after the parts swap?
Yes i have used the "reset this PC" in windows 10 this morning, and updated bios today and GPU drivers today. no new drivers for CPU avaliable.

PC shut down once since this.

I think the orange led is a standby power indicator.
That is normal.
It will be on unless the power to the PSU plug is removed.
Not anything to worry about.

Your HWmonitor does not display the minimum and maximum temperatures.
Since your shutdown happened at idle, I doubt you have any temperature issues.
At idle, your temperatures should be in the range of 10-15c. over ambient.

One test you can do is to run memtest86.
It will exercise ram.
You should be able to complete a full pass or two with NO errors.

The relevant drivers are for the motherboard and the chipsets.
Be sure to do a cold restart after updating.
Otherwise fast boot may still bring in the old drivers.

I doubt your PSU is the issue, it is a good unit.

Thanks for the info, i have done a memtest now for #2 passes. went fine.
Il check for chipset and mobo drivers, as well as max and min temps

What he asks about is not a "reset" but a completely new install which in most cases is best when having a new motherboard. After the fresh install you will need to install first the motherboard drivers, starting imo with the chipset drivers, only after that install the gpu drivers.

Other thing is that Hwinfo says that you run single channel, put the ram sticks in the second and fourth slot from the cpu out for dualchannel.

Really interested in whether a full reinstall helps.

Driver/Windows/chipset is typically game crash/lock or bsod.

Framerate drop is heat.

Power off/reset is psu. Even good psu’s go bad and that has to be relatively old. Has a 5yr warranty so might look at that.

Normally.

Hi, I will try to do a complete reinstall of windows next time it shuts off,
Tried changing my ram to dual channel, but it wont boot.
It will only boot when i have either 1 stick in A1, or A1+A2
Tried A1 + B1, and A2 + B2, but doesn't work. pc is stuck on a black screen, and DRAM LED lights up on my mobo

Edit: video of the LED lights when i try to dual channel: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1SHEt7VTtucmxKCjKStqgK6nYh4dJ0whz

Thanks for the reply, will check if the bios update helped, if it still shuts off i will do a clean install of windows. If that still doesn't work, i will borrow a psu and try that

I have now returned the motherboard and the ram, bought:
  1. Asus rog strix h370-f gaming motherboard
  2. Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4 2666MHz 16GB (this is on the QVL list for the motherboard) CMR16GX4M2A2666C16

I still have the exact same issue, wont post when i try ram in dual channel. is 4 DIMM or "DS" required to run dual channel?
Read some other threads, about the cooler might the issue, as it could be creating too much pressure, so i installed the stock cooler. Same result..
