Pc randomly shuts down , it could be within 1 minute of it on or an hour. I replaced the motherboard, CPU, did a complete wipe and reinstall of windows 10, replaced ram to 32. My PSU is only 6months old but will be my next step to figuring this issue out.

Before replacing the motherboard my pc would constantly freeze and if I canceled the shut down the screen would just be white. Now after replacing the motherboard if I cancel the shutdown in time I can continue to use the pc as normal until it tried to shutdown again.

The shutdowns occur even when nothing is being run. If anyone has any advice on what it could possibly be that would be great!

So it's not just powering off, it's randomly triggering a software shutdown? Like Windows shows the "Shutting down..." text?

Yeah it’s not just turning off it triggers the windows shutting down box. so the more things I have open the more it has to close before shutting down which gives me time to click cancel.

Well, I'm not sure what would be causing that, but I don't think it's your PSU's fault. Sounds like something's messed up with the software.

Yeah that’s what I originally thought so I done a complete wipe and reinstall of windows however I didn’t have enough space to download windows from the cloud so could only use whatever windows software that was already on the drive and that didn’t fix the issue. I have just done another complete wipe and reinstall of windows and I have enough space now to download windows from the cloud , it’s only been up and running for 10minutes with no crashes so fingers crossed it was just some corrupt windows file. If that doesn’t fix I will try a new PSU if not I'm stumped from there haha

You can also run "sfc /scannow" at the command prompt to scan for and fix corrupted Windows files, but I don't know enough to know whether that would be sufficient to fix your issue.

I tried that but it couldn’t find any corrupted files. Strangely though after I wiped and reinstalled the first time it could only download some of the updates for windows the rest just said error try again. I don’t seem to be having any issues like that now since wiping and downloading from the cloud. windows seems to be updating fine. but I also don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch.

Well, hopefully the problem has been resolved with the fresh download and install of Windows. An odd issue for sure.

Unfortunately a fresh install did not fix the issue so I put it down to needing a new hard drive or a PSU. I quit and put it aside for a while, anyway getting frustrated that I could no longer game I tried just putting up with the random shutdowns sometimes it lasted an hr others it would turn off within minutes. Feeling even more annoyed I just decided to use my partners pc . I don’t like the keyboard so I plugged my keyboard into the pc and low and behold within 1minute of plugging that bad boy in his pc shut off… this whole time it was my faulty keyboard and I havnt had any random shutdowns since. I just thought I would update incase someone else has the same issue. I originally did try trouble shooting this in the begging but because the shutdowns were spontaneous it was hard to tell if it was a faulty keyboard or mouse. So relieved!
