I recently put together a new system built for video editing and a good chunk of high end gaming (I'm gunning to be able to fraps while BF3'ing). And for awhile now, I have been noticing a LOT of lockups and skips. Normally for around 2-7 seconds each time. And this doesn't just happen when I'm editing, it happens sometimes just randomly it seems. The hang's were happening even a few months back now, I thought it might of been my old 585w PSU finally dying out on me so I picked up the Thermaltake when it went on sale, didn't fix the hangs though. I was wondering, the CPU is a 95w, and the board can handle 125's no prob. Could that be the problem?

My current specs are:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64
RAM - Mushkin Enhanced 12gb Silverline - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226096
MOBO - ASUS M4A88TD-V - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131646
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 945 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103809
PSU - Thermaltake TR2 RX 750W - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153136
GPU - MSI TWIN FROZR 250 GTS - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127478

I'm also running 2 WD Caviar Black 1tb's, a generic 7200rpm WD 150gb, Two external HD's, and another generic 5400rpm Samsung which is my the drive with Windows 7 on it

Are you really using triple channel RAM in that dual channel board? Take a stick out.

These hangs could be anything, including a virus. USB, failing southbridge, bad drive.

No such thing as a generic 150GB WD.... is that a JS model? Those ran hot and might be failing after this time.

You really just need to strip the system down a bit and see if the issue continues. I would do a fresh OS install also.
