Ok so I just upgraded my pc. I put in a new motherboard, CPU, and video card. Since then my pc has been rebooting randomly without warning. i ran a memory check with no problems found. I'm Thinking maybe power supply is bad? It's just weird i am having this problem as soon as i did a upgrade. please help.

I am interested to know what happened with Cajun J s random reboot. I have the GA-z97x-UD5h also and having the same issue.

I went to the BIOS and changed the Power Loading setting to "enabled"

The Bios states the following:
Power Loading: Enables or Disables Dummy Load. When the power supply is low load a self protection will activate causing it to shutdown or fail.
If this occurs please set to enabled.

I just set it so the jury is still out. I will check back in if I get another shutdown or will let you know in a couple of days if all is well.

I changed out the power supply. Still getting random shutdowns. Everyhing else is working great except for that. I am calling Gigabyte this morning.

Gigabyte tech advises to remove the CMOS battery for 1 minute (with AC power disconnected).
Rebooted with optimized BIOS settings.
That was 2 1/2 days ago and so far no shutdowns.

Also, make sure "power Options" in W7 is set to "never" sleep.

Hi all, i have exactly the same problem. the system randomly shuts down for about 3 seconds that boots up again.
I recently installed a few new components
These are my upgrades.
Motherboard : Gigabyte - GA-Z97X-UD5H - Intel Z97 Socket LGA1150 ATX Motherboard
CPU : Intel Boxed Core i7-4790K 4GHz Processor (BX80646I74790K)
Memory : Corsair Dominator GT 2 x 4GB 2000MHz DDR3 Desktop Memory Kit (CMT8GX3M2A2000C9)
HDD : Kingston 120GB M.2 (NGFF form factor) Solid State Drive (SM2280S3/120G)
CPU Cooler : Corsair Hydro Series H80i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

Old components in the system:
PSU : Gigabyte Odin 720 GE-P720A -power-supply-720w
Graphics 2 X (IN SLI Config) XFX GX260NADBF GeForce GTX 260 Black Edition Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Video Card

I have tried removing the cmos battery as suggested above and it still does it.
I have stripped down to bare bones. and still does it.
I have reloaded windows 7 fresh as well as loaded windows 8.1 fresh (it seems worse in windows 8.1)
I can play a few hours of civilization V, but only 5 minutes of WoW as well as only about 5 minutes of Civilization Beyond earth.
But i can leave it on ALL Day downloading stuff off the internet with NO reboot at all...

I am running bios version F5 and latest graphics drivers ad well as motherboard drivers of the internet not the disk supplied.

The temperatures of the CPU never goes over 40 degrees C with the water cooling system (i installed a monitoring tool and it checks cpu temp

any advice please?

You have done everything I did except you did not mention if you made sure your power options is set to never sleep. That’s probably not the issue but it cannot hurt to set it that way.
I have not toyed with the temperature settings on the motherboard.

How are you monitoring the CPU temperature. ? If you are using software that is inaccurate that could be an issue. You can go into the BIOS and set warning beeps when the CPU gets to temperatures that you set. This will probably be most accurate. Make sure you have a beep speaker hooked in to the motherboard. If you hear a beep on booting up than you have one. I had to buy one separate as my case did not come with one. Very cheap.
