PC remote to wake up computer?

I have been trying for some time now to figure out why my PC remote will not bring my PC out of sleep mode. It has done it at a few random times but I cant figure out why its not a consistent thing. Ive changed the USB wakeup settings also the usb loads in the bios because my USB keyboard is active during boot. Its Win 7. Not sure what else any ides?

It might have to do with the sleep state. See if in BIOS you can prevent your PC from entering the deeper sleep states. If the BIOS can't get the interrupt because it's powered down the USB (or in your case the infra-red?) controller, you won't be able to use it.

You can also check if the driver settings for the IR drivers have a power saving state that may cause them to power down.
