Alright so I've been playing all games good until just recently when I play the forest on high it's all ok till the game leaves the start menu then it crashes although I was just playing this game last night on high and same settings and it ran perfect, now it just resets my PC every time... Also have just tried the witcher 3 maxed out and even witcher ran smooth with no problems the forest does run on ultra low and windowed though, I'm really lost... Does anybody have an idea? I7 4790k, XFX bronze 80+ 550W and ASUS gtx 970 STRIX it's weird because the last time I checked the witcher was more needy with power than the forest

A quality 550W unit (which your PSU is) is more than capable of handling those components - and considering the huge quality drop overnight on The Forest, I'd be inclined to look to your GPU drivers (or drivers in general really).

Are you running Windows 10 by chance? It has been known to update drivers to BETA versions, or even older versions that are conflicting with the most recent, working versions.

Resetting though, do you mean it's actually restarting? That would be extreme for a driver conflict (a game crash/freeze would be more expected). Are you monitoring your temps? Possible you're being throttled & overheating resulting in a restart if that's the case.

Review the Windows update log, and see if anything jumps out at your that's been 'auto-updated' between the last time all way working as expected and the problems occurring.

A full removal of your GPU drivers and a clean install of them would likely fix your issues if they're driver related, but monitor your temps also - maybe run the Heaven benchmark to stress the GPU and see how temps look.

No windows 10, and temps are all fine and the PC just turns off and then reboots. So like I said I went to witcher to test and it was fine, only happening with this game, the game did just have an Update when I actually got off and since the update this has been happening, seems a bit extreme though. Could a simple update do this much?
