Question PC restarts by itself when gaming at a higher resolution ?

Hi. I wanted to ask for help on what I should do for my pc. I'll write out a detailed explanation. PC was built in late 2021

PC Specs
GPU: Gigabye RTX 2060 (bought in 2021)
CPU: i7-10700 (bought at 2021)
Mobo: B560 Steel Legend (bought in 2021)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB x 2 (bought in 2025 when I thought RAM was the issue)
PSU: Armageddon Gold 80 600w (bought in 2021)
SSD: Imperion 1TB (bought in 2021)

So the issue here is when I game, like literally play any games at a higher resolution. It'll crash and restart. Like you, i initially thought my cpu or gpu is overheating. But I downloaded MSI Afterburner to check it out and noticed they were only at max 60 degree celcius, which means this was not the case. This started happening roughly 3 years after I have been using this pc(2024). Im really confused and dont know what the issue is.

I thought it was a RAM issue, and got a new one, but the same thing is still happening.
Reinstalled Windows. Same thing.

Now at this point, all I can think of is that might it be due to my PSU being faulty from power outage (generally happened before) or is it my GPU issue?

Please help me and let me know what else I can do. I am thinking of getting a new PSU but im very scared that nothing changes and the issue persists and i'd have spend for nothing. Thanks yall!! 🥰

Look in Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for error codes, warnings, or even informational events being logged just before or at the time of the crashes.

Either one or both tools may be capturing some relevant entry.

Start with Reliability History/Monitor. Much more end user friendly and the timeline format may reveal some pattern.

Event Viewer requires more time and effor to navigate and understand. To help:

Just as a general observation I would consider the PSU a likely suspect.

See what, if anything, is being captured in the logs.

Hi! Thanks so much for respond! @Ralston18

I've checked my reliability report it only shows "Windows was not properly shutted down". Really odd 🙁

I'll check out the event viewer real quick. But so far it also seems like the PSU is the suspect so far huh 🙁

Download OCCT and run the power supply test.
Your PSU only had a 3 year warranty this usually indicates poor quality.

PSU: Armageddon Gold 80 600w (bought in 2021)
This thing?
Official specs: https://www.armaggeddon.com.my/power-supply?product_id=2766

If so, i have never heard of Armageddon PSU brand. Then again, when they are Malaysian exclusive (which their site claims to be), it wouldn't be a much of a surprise.

Specs look nice. But warranty period does not.
At current date and time, proper, good quality PSU, has easy 10 year warranty, indicating their reliability. Your PSU has mere 3 year warranty, which i'd classify as low quality PSU. Since when the PSU would actually be good and reliable, it would have a FAR longer warranty (just look towards Corsair RMx or Seasonic Focus).
On top of that, PSU is older platform of being ATX 2.31. If that is to be believed, that is. Currently, there are ATX 3.1 PSUs out there, while i don't suggest looking towards anything older than ATX 2.5.

There is very little info about that PSU brand as a whole on the net.
Looks like the brand was PowerLogic for very recently (up to 2024) before name change to Armaggedon,
source: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...ltron-400w-gold-rated-psu-a-good-one.2513877/
And back then, they faked the 80+ Gold rating.

Did look for PSU reviews and did find non-English (Indonesian) preview of their Voltron Gold 600 RGB PSU,
link: https://dbklik.co.id/blog/review-armaggeddon-voltron-gold-600-psu-80-gold-murah-ada-rgb-nya

Now, you have non-RGB unit, but that RGB unit there is true crap quality unit. Label shows PSU to be 608W while +12V rail has 40A, making it only 480W unit. And 80+ Gold badge and 10 year warranty badge are glued on as afterthought stickers, where both are actually fake. Did find the same Voltron Gold 600 RGB PSU original label as well, click for image and it does not have any 80+ Gold rating while the warranty is only 1 year.

So, a brand that produces cheap, crap quality PSUs. And since there are 0 reviews of the non-RGB Voltron Gold 600 units, the PSU you have, is considered crap quality unit. Since i don't think it is any different from the RGB version of the same series, only not having RGB fan in it and label on it that makes a bit more sense. But i believe the innards to be the same crap. Unless, there is proper review with teardown to state otherwise.

This started happening roughly 3 years after I have been using this pc(2024).
Replace the PSU. If your Voltron Gold 600 does actually last it's warranty period, then it isn't complete crap, but low quality unit. Still, PSU has surpassed it's expected lifespan and it producing issues would be common.

Good PSUs to go for, are: Seasonic Focus/Vertex/PRIME, Corsair RMx/RMi/HXi/AXi, Super Flower Leadex Gold/Platinum/Titanium.
Most of them have 10 year warranty, except Vertex and PRIME, which have 12 year warranty. While all of them are either good or great quality PSUs (proven by reputable reviews).

(My 3x PCs are also powered by Seasonic. I have 2x PRIME TX-650 units and one Focus PX-550 unit. Full specs with pics in my sig.)

When a graphics card is under load, like running at higher specs, it will draw more power.
Likely your psu can't handle it.
In time a cheap psu parts will degrade.
Test with a known good quality psu of sufficient power(750w at least)
If one is not available, buy a replacement from a shop with a good return policy.
Expect to pay a 15% return premium if the replacement does no better.
