PC Restarts by itself

Help! My computer that i recently built has started restarting by itself whenever i enter a game. the first time it happened was when i had plugged it into a power strip, 15 mins later it made a sound in the tv like unplugging speakers and it then went to my motherboard screen. i switched the cable from the power strip to the outlet directly to no avail. please tell me i don't need new parts!

EDIT: It restarted by itself again, but this time told me that windows didn't start up correctly. So i went through the steps to refresh my pc, about 20% through it restarted itself again.

Look in event viewer under windows log / maybe system. If there are any event id: 41 errors it maybe PSU related

Is this your first build? What OS are you running? When exactly does it turn off? First, try disconnecting one or two of your video cards you might have too little power... the next thing you could should do is check that all the front panel cables are for sure in the right place.

It is my first build. I'm Running Windows 8.1. It tends to turn off when a game has first opened. i know this isn't a lack of power because this build was up and running for four days before i plugged it into the power strip.

Okay. That is perplexing... maybe check event finder anyway. Aslo, did you update the drivers for your motherboard from their website?

It is now refusing to turn on... I dont understand how this could happen.

Hmm... Do you have another desktop that works anywhere in your house or maybe a friends desktop?
