So my PC just takes insanely long times to open basic programs and files.. Alt-tabbing in a game can take up to 30 seconds, loading times (specifically in Diablo 2) takes 10-30 seconds

Is it time to upgrade or is there something i can do? Formatting worth a shot?

I've noticed in the task manager Disk is on 100% everytime i do anything, RAM is on 100% when any game is running.. RAM is at 40% right now, with just chrome open (when i add everything up its like 5-600mb).

Intel i5-4460
GTX 980
8GB Ram

Thanks for any advice.

HDD, i thought about this for the slow loading times.. But I just found it weird that my PC is so slow Even when browsing/switching folders.

Anyway what to look for in an SSD? I dont need high end stuff, just best budget bang for buck, no huge games so 256g should be plenty.

Once mechanical drives get to a certain age they can make everything lag. I have seen this so bad in budget gaming laptops it seemed like the laptops were more or less junk.

People will sure weigh in what drives they think are best buy even the cheapest ssd is a huge step up from a hdd.

Here are a few choices I have used these drive with no issues.

Price wise just get a 500GB...

You using a solid state drive or a hard drive?? If you are using a hard drive replace it with a SSD as that is most likely your issue.
