Pc running weird after new motherboard install

Hello
Right my problem is i recently bought a new graphics card (1080) so i can sli it with my current one,realising my motherboard i owned didnt support sli i had to purchase a new one (Asus maximus viii hero) After installing the motherboard connecting everything up i turn it on to find its running really slow, for example desktop apps slow loading folders browsing, also games running slow, games like playerunkown battlegrounds destiny 2 etc, but not just slow unplayable in any setting. i dont know what to do so can someone please help.
specs are:
Intel i7-6700k
motherboard u already know
msi armor gtx1080
gigabyte g1 gtx 1080
16 gig of ram
2tb hard drive
120g ssd

What was your prior motherboard's make and model? Did you reinstall your OS and necessary drivers for the new motherboard? You should also make sure you're on the latest BIOS revision.

Hello my previos motherboard was a msi tomahawk. I did reinstall windows but keeping my folders bar the os one. yes ive done that. also thanks for the quick response
