PC shows no signs of power

Hey all. My PC isn't showing any signs of power. I've gone through what I would figure to be the extent of basic troubleshooting and so far haven't had any dice.

I took apart the machine and fiddled around trying to fit a DVD drive into it. (No dice there either, the thing was too big!) After resolving that the drive wasn't going to fit, I re-assembled everything and found that the PC would no longer turn on. I'm not sure the extent to which this is relevant, but this entire process took place on carpeted floor (although I did ground myself before "operating.")

Here are the troubleshooting steps I went through before posting this thread:
-I made sure the thing was plugged in, that the PSU was switched on and that the power socket works
-I tried 3 PSUs (one of which I know for sure works)
-I tried 3 motherboards (one of which at least should work since it was unopened)
-I triple checked with all 3 motherboards and PSUs that the 4-pin, 24-pin, CPU fan and power switch were all snugly seated where they belong
-I disconnected everything non-vital during testing

Sadly, I haven't had any luck since running through all those aforementioned steps. I feel like I must be missing something obvious; the CPU fans should still rev up even if the CPU is shot, right? Are there any critical cables besides the four I checked that I forgot about? How is it possible for a system to show no signs of life with a power supply that 100% works and seems to be connected?

Sorry for the ultra-common question, but I haven't found a thread that details exactly this situation and I'd really rather not take it up to the shop.

Solution
Make sure every wire in the build is not damaged, if not then i think your power supply is dead or something is missing.
Did you build the pc or bought it factory new in the first place?
