recently i bought a new PSU which is XFX TS 430 ( P1-430S-XXB9 ) for my budget pc
after installing the new PSU and turning on my pc
it keeps beeping and the pc shut down after windows start with few seconds
so it's clear that the PSU is the problem since i installed my old PSU again and the pc worked fine
so i just want to know if it's this unit problem and i should just replace it with another unit or if the model of the PSU itself isn't compitable with my PC and i should buy another PSU model
my PC specs are
Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2PT
CPU : Core2Due E8400
GPU : Gainward GTS 450 1GB edition
PSU : XFX TS 430 ( P1-430S-XXB9 )

i didn't find the specs for your PSU but if it's not an ACTIVE PSU (means that the current is the same in all power ports) you should try to connect the Disk Drive through a direct port that isn't connected to any other port.
if it's active then try to connect the Disk Drive with a different power port.

you may probably want to send the PSU for warranty if that sound comes from the PSU so it's one of it's regulating capacitors that is making the sound.if so you shouldn't turn the PC on again until you disconnect the PSU from it because if unregulated current comes to the mainboard it could cause system electrical interruption and damage and could harm the motherboard and it's parts.
if that sound is not coming from the PSU so it's probably form the motherboard , how old is your motherboard because the capacitors of the motherboard has a lifetime around 50,000 hours and after that there would be no guarantee that motherboard works fine. in 90% of cases it's the CPU side capacitors of the motherboard so it's the first spot to check.
let me know if the sound wasn't from any of those parts.

i already sent the PSU back and ordered another one ( same model though ) which i should receive tomorrow so i can't check where the noise is coming from exactly
anyway my motherboard is GA-G41MT-S2PT and it has been more then 5 years since i bought it
but i tried another 2 PSU ( very cheap and week ones ) and my pc was working fine
so i don't really think it's the Motherboard
because if it is the motherboard then the 2 other PSU which i have tried should have been causing the same problem right ?
could it be the power cord ? maybe it's not compatible with the new PSU ?

No the power cords are all the same just be sure that it has the general standards.about the power cord ,in some special cases people use golden connector power cords for high usage , to make sure that the current in the cable wouldn't lose.but it's not so different just a standard cable is enough.
another thing to consider is to make sure you picking up the right wattage.i mean if you attend to add more graphic cards or more components in the computer consider the power supply and make sure that it will be enough in future.
i think it was just the PSU that was corrupted and mistakenly went out of the factory. by the way did you test that PSU with another computer?

no i didn't have the chance to try it on another PC
but i checked the required wattage for my pc using a PSU calculator
and the result was
Load Wattage : 279 W
Recommended PSU Wattage : 329 W
so the XFX TS 430 should be enough as i think
anyway i'm still waiting for the new PSU
i will replay to you when i receive and install it
thanks for your help

i received and installed the new PSU
still facing the same problem
maybe it's my PC problem
i will buy another PSU ( probably a Cooler Master )
by the way
my old PSU -12v max output is .5A
and the new PSU is .3A
could that be the reason why this is happening
what is that -12v ?

try to change the graphic card and install the latest bios updates for your motherboard and see if it fixes the problem
most of the times it's bios but if you installed the updates and still faced the issue try to change the graphic card it's second thing that could cause this.
let me know if it fixed.

first of all it would be better if you could let a technician do the update because a little mistake in the update could cause motherboard flashing and damage. download the bios update file from here:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4084#bios

be sure to chose the right revision of the motherboard you can choose the revision in the right corner next to the model of the motherboard in the gigabyte website.
and you can see you motherboard revision in the bottom left corner of the motherboard.:
http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/faq-page.aspx?fid=864

download the bios update then go this way:
