Hello folks

I've recently bought an fx6300 for my brother and a 4 GB ram. He was using athlon x2 215 at 3.4 ghz OC with the gpu radeon 6850

But since when I bought it the computer has started to shut down. There is no certain time and it's not caused by the heat I believe. And I unplugged the extra 4gb ram that I bought and used without it. The problem has not been solved.

Pc usually shuts down or freezes on the screen (sometimes it starts running again if you're lucky, otherwise you have to reset.) and these problems occur when it's idle. For example we play Battlefield 3 for several hours and nothing happens. But just after we close the game or change the server (for the ones who doesn't know, Battlefield closes the game before charging the server.) it happens. My psu is 500w which I believe enough for power consumption. And already the shutdowns doesn't occur in full performance.

So, do you have any ideas which may lead me for the solution?

OK. The CPU and RAM are new or used parts?

First you need to test that system with another PSU. Your current PSU's quality is questionable and the fact that it's already 4 years old makes it the most likely suspect. Also keep in mind that the new CPU is more power hungry than the old one. Other possible suspects are the motherboard which is also old and the RAM. Since you changed the CPU you should try to reset the motherboard's CMOS just in case the UEFI/BIOS hasn't completely recognised the new CPU. Read the motherboards manual on how to do that. Once you've done those 2 things report back with the results. Good luck.
A PSU's Wattage number says nothing about its ability to properly power a system. Also a bad/cheap 500W unit may not be able to output in reality more than 350 Watts. So you need to give us more info about your complete system specs including the PSU (maker, model, age) which is the most probable suspect for your issues.

Okay let me write a detailed one

AMD Athlon x215=>AMD FX-6300
Sapphire HD 6850 2GB
4GB corsair vengeance ram=>4+4 GB 1600MHz corsair vengeance ram
320 GB 5400rpm HDD
X-Calibre 500W 80+ PSU 4 years of service
MSI 970A-G46 motherboard
