my pc keep shutting down like the cables were pulled from it and then turn back on,i happen once every week or something like that for an unknown reason, but a couple of month ago a virus got into my pc i nearly deleted all of it,i sill get some ads while browsing the internet, could that be the cause of a sudden shutdown?

Solution

no it just happened while i was browsing the internet, the system is well cooled ,i have 4 fans that are off as long as the cpu is under 40c and they only turn on after it get's higher, but i have an i5 6600k overclocked to 4.5ghz ,but i don't think there is a stability issue

it may be your power supply. when you overclocked did you increase the voltage to get to that clock speed?

yup i did and my psu is 700w which is overkill for my system

can it be overvoltage?

even if it is overkill it may be causing the problem

what do you suggest?

i would put the CPU and mobo back to stock first and see what happens

ok so putting them back to stock for a week or 2 should be enough cause it doesn't happen everyday

right, that should be enough time to rule it out

Solution

could it be hard disk failure?

the only way it would be a hard disk failure is if it wouldn't let you boot into your operating system when it restarts
