Pc shutdowns automatically while playing games just after getting new graphics card

pc specs:
intel core2duo e8400 3ghz
corsair vs450 psu
new sapphire hd7770 vapor x dual fan ghz edition graphics card
2x 4gb 1333mhz rams
gigabyte ga g41m combo mb
windows 8.1

As topic says pc reboots automatically during games or when left idle...gpuz log shows only 46 temp. Psu is good enough too as per other forums and calculators...I tried old - new drivers but all thats given me is instant reboot when far cry 4 loads :/ [actual game i.e when graphics starts.] before it used to reboot in the middle of the game...during IDLE reboot is solved i guess so far no reboots
what is the problem? please help me

Sounds like your PSU is not enough. Like introsounds said, are you overclocking? That uses up more wattage and may result in an insufficient PSU.

Sounds like your PSU is not enough. Like introsounds said, are you overclocking? That uses up more wattage and may result in an insufficient PSU.

According to every forum and calculator it says that my psu is more than enough to run my system with my new gpu...i read some reviews that even a 250w psu ran this card -_-
Is there any chance i got a defective gpu out of the box?

Your card only uses ~220W at full load, which should provide more than enough headroom for your other components. It might just be a software issue or yeah, it might be defective, which is odd.

Just to be sure, check every connection on your motherboard, you might've accidentally loosened up a connection during installation, who knows.

Not a software issue, formatted and installed windows 7 clean with latest gpu drivers for windows 7 which installed without any error...+ there is no bsod, and system cant write to event log bcoz it looses power unexpectedly..its something in the hardware and i cant narrow down my search! :| what are the symptoms for defective gpu?? i can play games sometimes by lowering clocks to 800s but none - random shutsdown still..cant run furmark test on new gpu it just reboots,while cpu tests are fine..tried my old gpu hd5450 with furmark test to the limit and it didnt shutdown, side by side put a load on the psu by stress testing cpu theres no way it shutsdown on my old card, except when i take power from my UPS /power cut , both the cards system reboots...sometimes with a long constant beep
Re-assembled everything on the motherboard but no good, ill be glad if one could narrow down my search for the problem..

Honestly, it must just be a compatibility issue. I found another thread that seemed to cover the same problem that you're having, and he had no luck.

PSU was defective, got it replaced by corsair with the same one and its working fine...it can handle my system..
