I have a new Acer Aspire desktop. When I don't use it for around two hours, it shuts down.

I don't see any settings that might cause that to happen. Is there an fix for this or should I return the PC?

[OS = Windows 10]

There can be a number of factors. Software, power settings, overheating. Are you in front of the computer when it shuts down? Is it doing anything? And is it shutting down and starts up fresh..or does it turns off and resumes windows (known as sleep mode)?

Hi, just to clarify, when you say that you don't see any settings, can you confirm that you have looked at the power and sleep settings?

Of course, if it's a new store-bought machine and you can't find anything obviously wrong, it might be best to return it for a replacement. No point putting lots of time into it if there's some underlying problem.

Good luck!

No, I haven't seen it shut down. I come back to the PC, after not using it for a couple of hours, and find it shut down. I have to push the power button to turn it back on. The web pages that I had open are still there when it comes back on.

I did look at the sleep and power settings. I saw setting for the PC going to sleep. I didn't see any settings for automatically turning the computer off after a certain period of time.

So it seems like it is going to sleep, it's not shutting down. Maybe even hibernation. You can change these settings to "Never" and test to see if it does it again. If not, then we can conclude it was sleep settings.

However, if it does shut off again, then it may be a software or something else causing the issue.
