Hi guys,
I've been having an issue the last couple of days where my computer will turn on briefly after pressing the power button only to shut down straight after the MB splash screen. Upon pressing the button a second time, it will boot Windows and everything will function normally. This seems to have only started occurring since installing Windows 10, although I am not ruling out hardware failure.
At a quick glance what you would say is mostly likely causing the problem? I had thought it could be an issue with a potential dual boot conflict (possible left overs from the OS upgrade) but when I go into msconfig, under the boot tab there is only one option. Another reason I thought it could be a software issue is that it happens at exactly the same point every single time (after the splash) and happens every time I power the computer up using the power button (restarts from an already booted Windows do not produce this problem).
Does this sound more likely to be a power, MB, software or combination of all 3 type of problem? I find it it strange or perhaps just coincidental that the problem only started after the installation of Windows 10. I have no other issues, all my components operate at a normal temperature and my case is dust free. I have also already conducted an 8 hour Memtest and did not find any errors with my RAM. Anyway here are my specs:
i7 4770
Gigabyte H87M-D3H motherboard
GTX 980Ti
8GB 1333Mhz RAM
Corsair CS750M Modular 80 Plus Gold PSU
500GB 850 Samsung Evo SSD
Seagate 1TB 7200RPM HDD
Hoping somebody can help me shed some light on this.
