PC shuts down and restarts after new GPU installation while on demanding games

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I got a MSI Gaming X GTX 1080 GPU, but after I had installed it and it's drivers, when i ran a demanding game and played for 10-20 minutes my system shut down and restarted after ~2 seconds.
So I read some threads on this, and people said it might be the PSU's fault.
Thing is, I would like to know if there's any chance the GPU is to blame.

Specs:
MoBo: Gigabyte B250-HD3P
CPU: i7 7700k
GPU: MSI Gaming X GTX 1080 8GB
8GB RAM
PSU: Corsair VS650

Yes, it's most likely the PSU.

The VS isn't for a gaming machine and can handle that load.

Look at the Corsair TX650M or Seasonic Focus 650W.

Did changing the PSU work? I'm having similar issues.
