Hello,
I recently started playing BDO again, after a long break. (I had played since game release until March without having any issues!) My computer now shuts down randomly when playing BDO, and after 2 seconds it turns back on without me doing anything. Now what's weird about it is, it doesn't happen on any other of my games (The Witcher 3, Watch Dogs 2, 'Mega Modded' Skyrim SE & Fallout 4 and more..). I swear, I've been playing everything else for hours, no shutdowns.
EDIT: Another thing to note, I sometimes get weird textures when launching the game. Like pixelated menus, missing hair, black faces.. I'm no expert but that sounds like a driver issue to me..
Edit #2: This seems to happen to me only with the latest AMD "Relive" driver versions. Older drivers are fine, but the shutdown problem is still there.
We can rule out overheating, I monitored my temps when playing BDO as soon as the issue occured, max temps for the GPU and CPU are 60 and 72 respectively. If the PSU is simply dying, why haven't I had any issues while playing other games for hours and hours?
My specs:
CPU: i5 4690k (OCed to 4.4GHz, has a Hyper 212 Evo custom cooler)
GPU: MSI R9 390 8GB
PSU: Seasonic 750w 80+ Gold
RAM: 12GB DDR3
Motherboard: Asrock anniversary Z97
I have built and been using this PC for a little over a year now.
What I've tried so far:
*Formatted PC, clean reinstall of windows. Also re-downloaded the game: Problem persists
*Unplugged EVERYTHING from the motherboard and put back again: Problem persists.
*Cleared PC of some dust: Problem persists (only noticed a 1-3C decrease on temps)
*Underclocked the GPU: Problem persists.
*Overclocked the GPU slightly and increased Power Limit and Core Voltage: Problem persists.
*Ran Memtest to test my Ram sticks: 0 errors, working perfectly.
*Ran Prime95 for 1 hour to stress-test the CPU: Working perfectly, with max temp 74C
***Now I ran Furmark to stress-test the GPU, and I had a few of the same shutdowns. But only when the test was about to finish, at 99%. NEVER during the test. Isn't that strange? What could it mean?
*Extensive google search for similar issues: Everyone else's GPUs or CPUs were simply overheating.
EDIT: *Rolled back on much older drivers: Problem persists.
*Updated BIOS to latest version: Problem persists.
*Game has been tested on both the SSD and the HDD.
I'm using Windows 10 x64 Pro.
I'm freaking out. Please help.
UPDATE: I believe I have finally resolved the issue. It was not hardware related after all. I noticed the CPU usage was constantly at 100% when running the game. That's not normal so I googled it, and thankfully there was a post which had a fix for it. From the original post: It seems that Xigncode is unable to switch over to the 64bit binary since it tries to load the 32bit binary and sometimes results in an endless loop (your 100% CPU issue)...
Then I applied the fix, and everything looks good so far. I've had no shutdowns all day. If anything changes I'll update the post, but I'm pretty sure that did it.
