I'm having a problem, I bought a evga gtx 970, everything was fine till few days later when I try playing bo3 it loads it up but once i was on the loading screen, turns off and restarts. So I maybe taught the gpu was the problem, I take out the 970 out and put my old gtx 570 to see what happens, it runs the game for about an hour then shuts off and restarts. Checked the temps of both gpu and they're fine. As soon as my computer needs the gpu it turns off. I have an atx 850w power supply. Maybe nothing but I can load up bo3 on the lowest resolution with the lowest quality and it runs.

Solution
Hi there MortalG,

If you are sure that the temps are fine, and the system turns off with different GPUs, I'm leaning towards a faulty PSU. Unfortunately, the easiest way to do so is to borrow one from somebody and install it on your system.

There could be something wrong with the GPU cable as well. Do you have a spare one?

I share D_Know_WD point of view here, probably is the PSU being unestable.

The PSU is very old?maybe you could have problems with capacitors that have dried or something like that?
Another option is use Aida64 or some other monitoring application to monitor the voltages (specially the +12v rail of the GPU)

What is the brand of your Psu and the fabrication or purchase date?

yea I'm using CPUID HWMonitor to check temps and voltage, everything is fine till i load up bo3, I swear as soon as i open bo3 shuts off. I did stress test on CPU, RAM and GPU and only on GPU test when computer shuts off and restarts. I don't have a spare but I order a new PSU to see what happens. The PSU I have right now it's a ATX CB800W bought it back in 2010.
