Question PC shuts off randomly ?

So the story is that before the upgrades; about a year ago I started having random shutdowns when launching a game, editing, watching youtube, really just anything in general (by shutdown I mean the system instantly shuts off completely and comes back on a few seconds later), and it got progressively worse over time (it happened more often). About two months ago I was tired of it and got an EVGA 500w 80+ White to replace my PSU (to replace the PSU from the original prebuilt) as I was told by many people that was the problem; Well that did not fix it. On March 17, 2022, I got new ram, BitFenix PSU, thermal paste as it had not had new paste applied to it for four years (yes I cleaned out the case), finally a GPU. All is good for the next 2 weeks then today I start having the same problem.

EDIT: After the EVGA PSU didn't work I was told to replace the other components that I mentioned as well, so I went along and did it as I wanted those upgrades for a while anyway.

I am populating both DIMM slots on the motherboard.
Windows Version 10.0.19043 Build 19043
I have manually reinstalled all relevant drivers.

EDIT 3: I have reinstalled Windows.

I really REALLY do not want to shell out any more money as this attempt to repair has already cost me over $400.

Also look in Reliability History.

Much more user friendly than Event Viewer and the timeline format could be very revealing.

Note that increasing numbers of errors and varying errors can be an indication of PSU related problems.

History as I follow your posts:

BitFenix Formula 80 Plus Gold 750w replaced by EVGA 500w 80+ White replaced by another(?) EVGA 500w 80+ White - correct? (If history is not correct then please correct.)

Wattage going downwards....

Start here:

Try two or three of the referenced power calculators. Plus do your own total component by component. If a component has a range of wattage values then use the high end value. After a total wattage is determined add 25% more.

The GPU specs list "Typical Board Power (Desktop)" as 185 watts. Minimum recommended PSU being 500 watts.

Overall, the PSU's may simply not be able to keep up with the host computer's power demands. Especially at peak demands.

I'm literally having the issue. Same processor, i7 8700.
Mobo : Gigabyte b365 ds3h
Tried replacing everything and the problem still persists.
My mobo supports 2666Mhz RAM but the RAM I've installed is a 3600Mhz RAM.
The mobo should automatically bring the RAM to 2666 Mhz and be stable but the PC keeps turning itself off and on again. Really frustrating. Please let me know if anything works for you.

I have had the problem before I replaced the ram, mine also brought the ram to 2666mhz which is fine.

The last thing I want to do is replace the CPU with a 12700k / Get a new MB because that would bring how much I have spent over $800

The current PSU is the BitFenix Formula 80 Plus Gold 750w. I would really hope 750w is enough for such an older card / system.

What I said before was, my first attempt was to replace the PSU with something similar which did not work (The EVGA), so I upgraded to my current PSU which is the BitFenix Formula 80 Plus Gold 750w

Code 141 - unfortunately covers quite a range of possible causes.

Reference (you can easily find others):

Code 141

Take another look in Reliability History (as Admin) and change the date range. Also scroll up and down the Reliability Details window.

And then go into Event Viewer (as Admin) - no need to rush through it all. Take time to explore and learn to navigate around. There may be some bunch of errors in one of the various views and logs.

The objective being to find other error codes etc. that may help narrow down possible causes.

Other things you can do:

Look in Update History for any problem updates.

Run the built in Windows Troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.

Run "sfc /scannow" and "dism"

Not a full test because the PSU is not under load. However, any voltages out of tolerance make the PSU suspect.

Nothing really caught my attention.

Update History is clean and normal.

Troubleshooter found nothing.

Run "sfc /scannow" and "dism" Results

Power Supply is saying it is running 12v, It really does not flucuate.

Event Viewer is showing 32,227 entries (per the image posted).

Click the column header "Level" to sort and then wait....

The resulting sort should put all of the critical errors at the top of the list.

Look at the errors and date range thereof.

You can also widen the columns to read the full contents if necessary. Just mouse over the column headers and watch for the cursor to change.

Your last image being the desired format so the Event ID can be seen. Expand the window if possible to view a longer list.

Not that 255 is the problem per se. We are looking for additional Event codes and what may be a common factor.

Need to keep the bigger picture in mind.

I started by googling what appeared to be the most common errors. Such googling is a bit risky: Some websites appear no matter what error code is being searched. Others try to mislead you into clicking links. Two sites I checked got flagged by Windows Security as "risky". One website gave out quite a stream of bogus warnings and wanted me to call to get my computer "fixed".... Had to shut down the browser to escape.

A couple of the services listed in your Event Viewer do not appear on my computer. Not unexpected.

Unidentified services need further investigation.

What games are you playing and where are you getting the games? You can search any unidentified service - it may be related to some game.

You might find some service is stopped - check its Startup Type. Could be Manual for example when it should Automatic.

Working through the errors and services is a bit tedious. However, it does become easier as you learn your way around the tools (Event Viewer, Services.msc, etc.).

I will look into everything else following this reply.

Games that I have been playing is Beat Saber, Bo3, Bo4, Vanguard. And I got them all from their retailers such as steam, battlenet, etc.

I done everything you asked me to do, I guess time will tell if this worked or not as I need ot use the computer in order for event viewer to get new logs.

Nothing really, I just set them to automatic as you said. I'm going to be using the pc like I normally do all day today so hopefully, I get some more information.

It's been a minute, well my computer worked flawlessly since your last post but today I had another shutdown. It was right when I was launching COD: IW which I just got during a sale and was launching for the first time.

Clear all of the Event logs. Work, game, etc. for a day or two.

Then sort the logs for critical and warning errors.

Do not overlook Reliability History. Much more user friendly and the timeline format makes critical errors stand out and/or show error patterns.

To answer your question it was on steam.

It happened again today, I quit out of COD:IW and started Modern Warefare; It had an update so the game restarted and upon the restart, the computer died again.
