i helped my friend set his pc up over skype, and to see if it was performing correctly i had him launch heaven benchmark to see his score, however near scene 20 his pc shuts off and reboots itself and he hears a tatatata noise coming from his headset(audio), he thinks thats benchmark sound(like the audio being stuck in a loop for about ten seconds). his gpu/cpu are not overheating.

i5 4690
msi z97-g45
evga supernova 650g
evga gtx 970
PNY 2x4gb sticks ddr3

Look at the connections rightly. Is the graphics card overclocked and i think the SMPS may not be able to take the load and that's why it shuts down

Could be a CRC Error with the hard drive.

It would be literally impossible to properly diagnose it over the internet without a massive input of information from this person.

Dump registers and error logs.

by connections, do you mean the power connectors like the 6+2? also no, nothing is overclocked nor will they be on his system.

alrighty. ill have him play a few of his usual games over a few days and see if the problem still happens, if so ill get some more information

If the hard disk is new then definitely its the SMPS ....

yes everything is brand new and a day old from amazon. so have him try a new power supply?
had him run prime95 for 10 minuts, cpu got to 70C and ran as usual, hes running furmark to see if stressing the gpu causes it. so far his gpu is running at a solid 75C for longer than the heaven benchmark and it did just fine. also found out he was running two pc's off of the same power strip -_- so were having him plug it into the wall and run heaven again.

i read about that, someone had to lower their evga SC(same card as his) by 100mhz clock speed and it fixxed the issue

not unless its a very poor quality 650w psu.

heres the bluescreen

i already had him reset cmos, hes reinstalling windows to see if it was a possible driver issue. ill reply back and see if he still gets a blue screen and have him dump it.

Ah cool. I see that you have it under control. Since the blue screen lists WDC01000.sys, it would be cool if he updated Windows immediately after the install to make sure that it's not related to .NET Framework. I assume you guys already ripped out the video drivers and reinstalled, so if mini dump is inconclusive, then I'd start considering that it could be a corrupted memory stick or possibly the drive; I think someone already mentioned the hard drive angle. Sorry that I chimed in earlier without fully reading the thread. I've been sick this past week, so it's added to my laziness.

yea he went ahead and reinstalled windows, used the motherboard(MSI) disk for his chipset/audio and such drivers instead of the msi website, and geforce experience for the video card drivers and now everything seems to be working ok, just need for him to get home so he can stress test and see if the issue persists. if so ill have him try just one stick of memory, the hdd is flat in the hard drive bay. and any input is helpful so dont feel lazy lol

well the problem still happens, having him take out and only use one stick to see if the odd chance that its ram related.

EDIT: same problem consists where it jsut shuts off. would you recommend him taking it to a local pc shop and have them diegnost(idk how to spell that) it?
