my pc keeps shutting off while playing Siege. Sometimes it shuts off while running hot, sometimes the temps are completely fine and it just shuts off my pc while playing. I've updated drivers, applied new thermal paste and checked game files, all are fine. The only thing i can think of is that my pc is shutting off because the temps are too high on the cpu but the highest it gets is 83 degrees celcius and i read that that was just fine so please someone help, I'm tired of all these bans.

my pc specs
cpu - ryzen 9 5900x
gpu - rtx 3080 gigabyte
ram - corsair vengance pro 32gb
motherboard - asus b550 a gaming
storage - samsung evo 980 1tb
psu - corsair rm850x

When the issue happens, does it ever hang on boot? That motherboard doesn't have a 7-segment error code panel, but it does have LEDs to indicate which subsystem failed (it calls them Q-LEDs), just above the 24-pin power connector on motherboard.

You could also stress test each component (CPU, VGA, SSD, memory) individually to see if one of them causes crashes more consistently.

Finally, it could be your PSU triggering its protection circuitry. I've had this happen on a Corsair AX1200i and after trying many thing the only solutions was a new PSU. This can happen to quality PSUs too, unfortunately. It would help if you had a different unit to test with.

nope it completely shuts down like as if you cut power, how do you suggest i stresstest my components? by the way since ive built my pc ive always had lower performance than usual fps being lower than usual and performance being lower than usual could this also be a result too so calledf psu triggering its protection circuitry because its getting so annoying its been a year since i built my pcs and theres always problems with it just underperformance and i really want to fix it i just dont know what part of my pc to replace.

The power supply will not cause performance issues, it will either be able to supply power within parameters or not. If it isn't able, protection will kick in and shut down everything (like pulling the plug).

Overheating could cause both things, performance issues as the component tries to keep within thermal envelope and shutdown when it's not able to. This could be any component, but most likely CPU, then VGA after that.

For stress testing you can use MSI Kombustor, which is free and works on any OEM, your stuff doesn't need to be MSI. "Stress Test" is for the GPU, but there's a "CPU Burner" option to stress test the CPU.

I happen to be running the same CPU as you, but with watercooling. My idle temps are around 40C and load temps around 72C. The TJmax for this CPU is 90C, so you don't want to be close to that otherwise it might throttle or shutdown to protect itself.

Here's my test results

hey so i did some tests and here are the results View: https://imgur.com/a/p5Epfhk

i burned my cpu for like 5 minutes and max temps were like 80 degrees couldnt really get it higher than that

Yeah, those temperatures don't seem high enough to be a problem. It could be the PSU then, do you have access to another one for testing?
i have my brothers psu but its 650 watts and i have no idea how i would test with it and idek if my pc can handle being on 650 watts

hey i dont have an extra one but i do have a volt/watt tester will that be any use?

For diagnosing unfortunately not, troubleshooting electrical issues on a power supply would require an oscilloscope and a good understanding of how a power supply works. But you could use it to check how much power your PC draws under load, just to be sure the 650W PSU will be capable enough. I used to have a 3080 in my system with the same CPU you have and peak draw was around 500W.

By testing with the other PSU I mean swapping them and checking if the issue is gone. If it still happens then it's probably something else.
