Hello folks,

I?m completely lost when it comes to my new build and its functionality. I build it together a few days ago, and I have one VERY big problem.

Every time I game (after some time) the PC just turns off (as if unplugged from power) and after a few secs it restarts - No BSODS, not anything. Just to be clear - It doesnt happen when i?m not gaming (whatever im doing on desktop, internet etc... its fine) Interesting is the fact that it happens mostly during CSGO - not any demanding games (but it happened to me in GTA once, as well)

I checked temps - they are in the clear (cpu around 70 degrees, gpu the same, mobo around 35, so as hdds) - nothing is overclocked, and Bios is updated to the latest version available. OS is newly installed (like 5 days ago) so that shouldn? be an issue as well.

Do you guys think it might be a sign of a dying PSU? I have it for like one and a half year, and up until now it powered way more power hungry setup (r9 280x and fx 8320 OCed) - and successfuly, might I add.

Specs:
Core i7 6700K,
8GB Kingston Hyperx 2400MHZ RAM,
ZOTAC AMP! Edition GTX 980 4GB,
MSI z170a - g43 PLUS
PSU : Corsair VS650

I actually hope it is PSU, and not motherboard / cpu / gpu.

If it is a psu, would you recommend this one? Im tight on budget http://www.czc.cz/evga-supernova-750-b2-750w_2/185502/produkt

Thanks for all help, i REALLY do apreciate it!
Have a great day :)

If your temps are ok it's a good bet the PSU is the problem. Corsair VS series are not very good quality and are especially unsuitable for a high powered gaming system. The EVGA 750 B2, made by Super Flower, is great quality and will do the job for you easily.

I have somewhat of the same problem. I'm thinking that the power required to push my 980 TI and your 980 might not be sufficient enough at least the amps/channel. My PSU has 12x4 lanes each rated at 34 amps. Yours it looks like is 50 amps but combine that with your CPU and other components...it might not be enough. I know this isn't an answer but I just figured I would shed some light on this situation for the both of us. I'm waiting for any responses and I will keep you updated if anything gets answered for me.

Hope you get your issue solved, looks pretty similar mate. I think we both might be in for a PSU RMA. My PSU Amps / wattage should be way enough for my system, though i think the capacipators are already on their way to merry component heaven...

Thanks for your input, i appreciate it.. have a great day and if anything, ill let ya know. Going for the PSU Today :)

Thanks very much for answer - i thought it might be the culprit, just needed some insight of someone more knowledgeble than me in this regard. I will let you know later today if it worked - going for the PSU :)

Have a great day!

There's no guarantee the PSU is the problem. Just a high chance. That being said, you really need a better unit anyways and you'll be better off in the long run.

No problem. Check my linked thread as I show an update to my situation. I am testing with a EVGA 850 B2 and so far it runs everything fine, even with POE which caused it to reboot within 2 minutes. I don't understand how these "testing" programs couldn't get it to reboot but a light game can?

I changed it to Evga 750 B2 and so far it seems the problem was solved as well. So if you are okay with it too, i think - GOOD RIDDANCE! Have fun with your build!
