PC Shutting down. Possible PSU problem not sure.

Hello there, I recently bought parts for a new PC, which I built with the help of my friend, however we never anticipated the mother board i purchased "MSI Z87 G45 Gaming series", needed an 8-pin power connecter however, the PSU i bought only had 4-pins, the Pc still worked, it just the CPU went to 100% and reset when playing java writen games and other games in general. The Psu I have is 600w which i thought would be plenty.
Here are my Specs:
Intel Core i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz-Quad Core - Processor
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz- RAM
MSI Z87-G45 GAMING (MS-7821)- Mother board
2048MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost (EVGA) -Graphics
932GB Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162 ATA Device (SATA)- Hard drive

I bought at 4-pin ro 8-pin adapter which does nto solve the problem either

you say nothing about the psu you have... but i would look into replacing it with an Antec, Seasonic, Corsair or XFX. generally those 4 companies make the most reliable and best psus. ideally get one that is haswell ready.

Sorry my bad, its a Best Value 600w PS05 Alpine Gold Fan PSU SLI, yeah i was thinking about corsair what wattage would you reccomend, thank you so much for reading

ugh... yeah... definitely replace the psu.

as to the wattage, a solid 500W bronze rated psu will be more then enough.
