My PC started randomly shutting down, while I am playing.

After looking for a solution online, I am inclined to believe that its a PSU issue.

Could you advise on how to be sure? How can I pinpoint where the issue lies?

only when gaming? not random. what are your specs?
what is your PSU? how old is it?

Disk Drive WDC WD10EZEX-00WN4A0 (1 TB, 7200 RPM, SATA-III)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
I bought in August 2016.

Also it only started 1 or 2 days ago. Before that I did unplug my PC completely, as I was cleaning my desk. It was completely unplugged for a couple of days. That is the only thing that happened between the period in which PC was working fine and the situation I am in now.

Additionally, and I don't think it matters as much, but ever since the beginning, the PC would shut down and restart seconds into booting process. As in I would press the power button, the fans would start making noise for 2 seconds, then it would shut down and boot again normally. Didn't ever affect anything besides occasional booting.

that is a good PSU. still warranted.
CPUID HWmonitor will let you monitor the voltages reported by the motherboard. you can download it from CPUID
you can see if the 12, 5 and 3.3V rails are in spec.
12V +/- 5% so 11.4-12.6V for normal
5V +/- 5% is 4.75-5.25V for normal
3.3V +/- 5% is 3.135-3.465V for normal

although if available a more definate solution is to swap the unit with another for testing.

I have AIDA 64 Running right now, and the voltages seem fine.
I have:
3.285
5.010
12.024
with the stress test running.

Also it just crashed again, while I was only using chrome.

I was thinking of upgrading to a higher end system pretty soon, so I might just go ahead and order a 750W PSU. Hopefully it solves the issue.
