I've been having troubles with my roughly 3 year old PC for a while now, but recently it has gotten much worse.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
RTX 3080 10GB
MSI PRO-VDH B550M
750W PSU GOLD (not sure of the brand)
Windows 10

It has worked fine for years until a few months ago. I would be playing a game and occasionally the PC would just turn off and the fans would go really loud. From what I read, this was likely some sort of power spike to the GPU. I managed to get this problem to be replicatable. When playing railroad empire 2, if I go to the screen where you unlock new engines (It renders them in 3D), after a few seconds this would happen. I was able to get around this by lowering the graphics settings. The temps were fine, so I don't think that was the issue. This did occasionally happen on other games. Graphics drives are up to date, although the problem was happening before the last driver update I did.

Then more recently when playing satisfactory, the PC would turn off after playing for just a few minutes, which is happening every time I play now. But no fans this time. I also had a blue screen when I first turned it on today, which doesn't usually happen. Checking the event viewer logs, the only thing of note there is the critical error when I did a hard reboot. No errors, which makes me think its hardware.

I ran the FurMark GPU stress test and it was actually fine. It pulled 100 FPS very solidly in ultrawide 1440p and the temps were fine after about 15 minutes.
Running the OCCT power test led to this every 3s: Error - 3D Adaptive - 785808 error(s) found ( GPU #0 - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 ), although repeating the test it had no errors. The 12V rail is pretty rock steady ranging between 11.96V and 12.14V.
It handled the OCCT CPU and RAM test fine, same with the 3D adaptive test.

Take off the side panels of your case and then see what the stickered side of the PSU says. You can also pass on a image of the stickered side if you're unsure what to look for. The PSU is 3 years old?

People who owned an RTX3080 were advised to pair the GPU with an 1KW unit due to high transient load spikes;

Hi perhaps a higher wattage PSU wil solve your issues. I found in my experience over the years with high performance GPU's it is best to invest into a 1000+ Watt PSU for reliable power overhead and for headroom for future upgrades. Power spikes do occur during gaming and demanding productivity programs that's for sure. I have my gaming PC set to auto overclock as needed when required by the system with no crashes or system errors. Just keep up the regular maintenance and updates for your Operating System and keep your games updated as well. I hope you will find the help you need now to get your PC running smoothly again. Cheers.
