PC Slows Down Then Freezes

I apologize if this is taboo topic on this website but I am having a serious issue while downloading torrents. I have been torrenting for years with no issues. I recently bought a new PC and ever since then when I am downloading a torrent, at random times is starts to slow down my PC until it eventually locks the computer up completely. This leads me to having to restart the PC manually. I have no issues with this PC other than that. I have uninstalled, reinstalled and even used different torrent programs, but they all do the same thing. The lockup occurs at random times into downloading so its unpredictable when it's going to occur. I'm not sure why it is doing this and it's becoming very frustrating. I have ran virus and malware scans numerous times with no infections detected just in case. This also never happens when downloading from websites, just torrents. Any suggestions or help would be grateful. Once again, sorry if this is a no no topic here.

Some ISP's will throttle you down if they think your torrenting.

Avoid torrents , problem solved.

Throttling down lowers the downloading speed to a crawl not freeze your PC causing it to have to be restarted. My speed is as high as ever. But anyway i'll take that response as this is a taboo subject. Thanks.
