Question PC slows down when HDD is plugged in but returns to normal when unplugged

So I just bought a new HDD to add memory to my PC. I was able to use it normally for a few hours but the next time I booted up my PC, it took really long and the HDD cannot be detected anymore. Anyone experienced the same?
